Consistency, sustainability and innovation in local authority service reviews

Over the past three years, Ignite has been working in partnership with Colchester Borough Council to develop and apply a fresh and effective model for fundamental service reviews. Based on Ignite’s innovation and change approach, Colchester has found that the FSR approach provides:

 A systematic and consistent way of looking at services. The approach allows the Council to look at services and the work they do in a consistent way by having meaningful  conversations across the council about the approach and results and to communicate with staff and members in a consistent way. It also instils a sense of predictability of how long a review will take and the nature of the results that will emerge. It allows them to build capability and to share resource around the organisation. This in turn allows good practice to spread across the organisation.

Setting a new vision for employer engagement

How Ignite helped a Further Education College plan to achieve outstanding levels of engagement with employers.

Can you really achieve change in a day?
Yes you can! The day I spent with the senior team at the college was more than enough time to spark new patterns of thinking and introduce a fresh way of doing things.



What was the challenge?
A recent Ofsted audit had recommended that the college could put more focus on employer engagement. They wanted to tackle this quickly and effectively.  The Principal was also keen to explore ways to involve more of her team in creative problem solving.

Bringing intangible concepts to life

How Ignite helped to bring insurance innovation concepts to life for consumer research focus groups for an insurance client.

Innovation and insurance?
Actually, we loved the innovation process our client ran to create the set of concepts they wanted to develop – they engaged a broader team in ideation, were unlimited in their thinking and completely customer oriented.

How did Ignite help?
Our challenge was to help the team to articulate what was in their heads and convert those quite intangible concepts into a set of visual stimulus for research with consumer focus groups.
